Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs)

Bipolar Junstion Transistors are the standard type of transistor, also known as bipolar transistor.

A BJT has three connections:

Base
Collector
Emittor

There are two types of BJT:

MOSFETs

The Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor, or MOSFET, is an improvement on the BJT in many ways. It is a high impedance device that uses a low voltage to switch it on.

As with a BJT a MOSFET has three connections

Drain
